ROBERT HURDLE
Robert was born in London in 1918. He studied drawing and painting at Richmond School of Art. After six years of military service during the war, he continued his studies at Camberwell School of Art & Crafts. In 1949 removed to Bristol to take up a teaching post at the West of England College of Art. He was a senior Lecturer of Fine Art until his retirement in 1980. He is a senior academician of the Royal West of England Academy. He is a member of the Bath Society of Artists.

During the 50s and 60s he worked directly form nature. The 70s saw a complete change in working methods and technique, working within the studio enjoying a more reflective approach. His present period is of a formalised subject where elements of space of light are realised through an overlapping of translucent areas of contemporary colours. He regularly show his work in group and solo exhibitions.
